Abstract

Forgetting as a Factor of Language Attrition Abstract. The article considers the process of language exhaustion (attrition), suggesting the existence of mechanisms for forgetting and remembering information. The main causes of the loss of language skills are described, three gradual stages of the loss of language skills are presented. The relevance of the study is due to the insufficient development of this topic in modern didactics and methods of teaching foreign languages. The purpose of the article is to generalize theories and hypotheses about the process of forgetting, to identify factors that influence the forgetting of the information, to determine the relationship between forgetting, remembering, and learning a foreign language. The authors believe that a deeper understanding of the causes and factors of malnutrition can be used in the activities of teachers and will increase the efficiency of the educational process in the field of study, will also increase the awareness and ability of students to make their observations and help maintain language skills

Рассмотрен процесс языкового истощения (аттриции), предполагающего наличие механизмов забывания и запоминания информации. Описаны основные причины и три постепенных этапа потери языковых навыков. На фоне недостаточной разработки данной тематики в современной дидактике и методике преподавания иностранных языков сделана попытка обобщить теории и гипотезы о процессе забывания, выявить влияющие на него факторы, определить связь забывания, запоминания и изучения иностранного языка. Более глубокое понимание причин речевого истощения будет способствовать повышению эффективности образовательного процесса в исследуемой сфере, повысит осознание и способность учащихся проводить свои собственные наблюдения и поможет сохранять языковые навыки
