Abstract: Prospects of studying Russian vocabulary, presenting society and behavior of a human in it are considered. Given is a definition to the concept of «social vocabulary». Determined is the fact that exceptional importance of understanding social relations by language is beyond doubt, at the same time, this part of vocabulary was not studied in system up till now. Urgency of planned research prospects is defined by the absence of complex description of social vocabulary in modern Russian linguistics. Review of existing studies of vocabulary of social semantics in works of Russian scholars is presented. It is shown that research works reflect only separate observations over vocabulary presentations of social events, processes, classes, groups and a man as a social unit/individual. It is shown that nominations, representing social phenomena, were analyzed before, but beyond actualization of connection between language facts that would allow to consider them as an organized lexical system, the principles of organizing such system were not studied. Necessity of systematic study of social vocabulary of Russian language is substantiated. It is shown that scientific and theoretical value of such study consists in the development and improvement of methods of analyzing vocabulary from the viewpoint of social semantics represented and also in systematization and interpretation of these materials, which have to be picked out and classified prior to all by ideographic principle, and then make a detailed analysis of separate sub-groups with the accent on ethno-cultural content of semantical and motivational models.
