Abstract: A very important characteristic determining the properties of metal is its structure obtained both in the process of primary crystallization and in that of a possible subsequent phase recrystallization. Therefore, it is of considerable interest to investigate the structure and mechanical properties of a metal ingot produced on an installation implementing a combined process of continuous casting and deformation. The obtained data allow one with a certain trustworthiness to assume the suggested scheme of hot plastic deformation, which is employed on the experimental installation (unit) of continuous casting and deformation, and implements virtually working through of the metal being treated within the indicated geometrical dimensions of an ingot and a strip blank. © Allerton Press, Inc., 2007.
