Abstract: The psychological aspects of the phenomenon of presence of a user in a virtual environment, citing the principal terms linked to virtual reality interpreted as an environment of man-computer interaction created with the help of special technical and programmatic means are looked at. The author describes principal technical means for creating a virtual environment, defines the notion of presence (in a virtual environment), lists its characteristics, components, variations and means of measurement, as well as influence of presence on execution of a task.
